WHAT IS HAPPENING? D:

AMERICA EXPLAIN! I AM CONFUSION!

If I’m reading correctly, I believe Christa’s shenanigans with distraction-smooching Liam infected her with some Hades(/Archangel??) death grossness, and now she’s in cryostasis to stop her from going into full Persephone Queen of the Dead mode. 😬😰 Also, side note, the percentage of all-caps comments to this installment is telling. 😂 Everyone’s hearts got squished for the fifth day of Christmas!

wait a minute did the arch-grossness get baz for that event to happen? Because the grossness is psy-slime right, a conduit for mental hijacking? So is this Lady Violet (Lady Violence?) or is this archgrossness acting through her? we need a discourse about agency. I was able to avoid thinking about it when it was clones but now it's Christa.

I can imagine EB sitting cozily wherever she is pulling a 30-rock style "high-fiving a million angels" while everyone screams in her comments LOL

...so... you know how I mentioned "long-term complications"--

Evidently, I *thought* I wrote this whole event a lot more clearly than I did. But this is exactly the conversation that should be happening. 😎

Oh no! Gah! I don’t know! 😰 I need a thesis about how agency and free will work with psy-slime.

Both possession/fully overriding the will and various degrees of manipulating to get results (reduced agency that, philosophically, runs parallel to the idea of sin darkening the intellect) have shown up! Having to override the will completely has been shown to do irreparable damage. Hence the use of manipulation and information control because it's so much more sustainable to, say, rummage through Jacob's mind and encourage an innocent-sounding idea or two that will actually play right into the rest of the plan. Even Hades (before this last scene, at least) was never asked to do anything he didn't eventually agree to do.

Baz getting psy-slimed in Science!Girl was another precursor, where Archangel did a soft reset on him to see how much he could get away with under the fog of war, without having to push back on his will at all, and realized it'd be an awful lot. Such that, in theory at least, it would knock the amount of possession damage down to something a robust enough nervous system could handle.

So, how much agency is Christa actually using here? Debatable.

A "good guy" would never do something like this unless forced, right? But Archangel just told her that she *could* fight any attempts to take over her will, and that it would kill her and solve the problem outright. Then again, it doesn't seem like he's having to force her will much at all. Her friend/enemy distinction was getting fuzzier and fuzzier the more time she spent ditching them to hang out with Hades, so that her priorities have really more been "rearranged" than "edited". And, really, who does she primarily owe her protection to? Her friends have each other. No one else is going to take care of Liam. Or...is that all just a justification to get the unconditional acceptance that she's felt missing from her life?

And, then again, how much are we going to argue that childhood wounds reduce agency? And to what degree is she responsible for letting her high ideals and crush on her nemesis draw her into this web of corruption in the first place?

Definitely debatable.

Hello yes i have a question about Baz and Marissa’s Baby given that some archgoop was in Baz’s system prior to their habeus-ing each others corpus.

So, Arkangel is evil. Hades wasn't. In fact, he was just god of the dead. Persephone wasn't evil, nor did she become. So if Arkangel turns Liam into Hades and Radiance into Persephone, he might have his hands full.
